Today, Teamsters Local 251, a leading voice for working class Rhode Islanders, announced their endorsement of Seth Magaziner for re-election as General Treasurer.
“Seth recognizes that serving Rhode Islanders means serving people like our members – hard working, middle class families,” said Local 251 Principal Officer Matthew Taibi. “He has supported projects to create good jobs and improve financial security. He stands with our members, and we are proud to stand with him.”
General Treasurer Magaziner has prioritized using the office to promote economic growth and job creation. He developed legislation that established new green infrastructure programs at the Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, which create jobs for Rhode Islanders while helping taxpayers save money on energy costs.
As co-chair of the Rhode Island School Buildings Task Force, Seth championed a plan to make a once in a generation investment repairing Rhode Island’s public schools. The plan will invest more than $1 billion over the next five years to create the educational spaces that will set students up for success, while putting thousands of tradesmen and women to work in the process.
“It is a great honor to get the support of Teamsters Local 251 for my re-election campaign,” said Magaziner. “I know that strengthen Rhode Island’s economy doesn’t just mean helping businesses – it also means helping families meet their daily financial challenges. As Treasurer, I have made financial empowerment a priority. I look forward to partnering with them through the campaign and in my next term as Treasurer.”
