In First Debate, Magaziner Shows He is Fighting for Working People

PRESS RELEASE >>

Candidates Contrast on Social Security & Medicare, Climate Change and Abortion

WARWICK, RI – Voters tuning in to the first debate in the race heard Magaziner’s commitment to fighting for them in Washington, by protecting Social Security and Medicare; cracking down on oil and drug companies that are price gouging; protecting a woman’s reproductive rights; and turning the page on far-right extremism and Donald Trump.

In stark contrast, during tonight’s debate, Republican opponent Allan Fung demonstrated he is committed to:

  • Making Kevin McCarthy Speaker of the House, even though he wrote a book on cutting Social Security
  • Voting against legislation lowering the cost of prescription drugs and legislation to hold billion-dollar oil companies accountable for price gouging Rhode Islanders.
  • Empowering Republicans determined to pass a national abortion ban

“Allan Fung has continued trying to hide his positions, but now voters are seeing that he will be just another Republican deadset on cutting health care, keeping wages low, and doing the bidding of the special interests who fund his campaign,” said Communications Director Patricia Socarras. “Tonight, Seth reminded voters that the stakes are high and he will always fight for better wages, better benefits and protecting the freedoms of hard-working Rhode Islanders.”

Supporters are encouraged to learn more about Fung’s extreme record at FactsAboutFung.com and to follow Magaziner’s campaign on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
